Alkagesta said it took part in African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, with Rustam Mirzoev representing the company throughout the five-day event. In an account published on its website, the company described a programme bringing together energy industry leaders, international investors and policymakers from both the public and private sectors.

The conference covered upstream, midstream and downstream activities alongside renewable energy and energy services, according to Alkagesta. Its agenda examined Africa’s place in global energy markets against a backdrop of geopolitical shifts. Discussions also addressed the investment needs of African energy markets and the challenge of moving proposed projects into delivery across electricity, hydrocarbons and renewables.

Energy security was among the main subjects highlighted in the company’s account, including Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for hydrocarbon growth. Other sessions considered financing for renewable energy development, the revival of onshore and brownfield assets, and opportunities to develop frontier basins across the continent. Together, those themes spanned both existing assets and prospective areas of development, rather than focusing on a single energy segment.

Country-focused investment sessions covered Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Alkagesta said these offered insight into regional opportunities relevant to Africa’s next exploration and production cycle. The country discussions formed part of a wider programme addressing investment and project development, with hydrocarbons, power and renewable energy all represented in the conference agenda described by the company.

Alkagesta linked its participation to its existing activities in African energy and commodity markets, which include supplying petroleum products and fertiliser in West and East Africa. It presented attendance as an opportunity to engage with policymakers, investors and industry representatives, and to strengthen relationships supporting its growing operations on the continent. The account did not announce any commercial agreements or project commitments arising from the event.
